On 26-27 June 2019, Kursk city will host the 8th Central Russian Economic Forum. This year’s Forum theme is “Digital region.”
The President and the Government of Russia have set the regions a strategic objective of building a digital economy to lay foundation for the successful implementation of all national projects.
The core message of the Forum is that the digital transformation should be focused on people, on improving their life quality. The Forum is aimed at answering the question: how can ordinary people benefit from a digital economy, what should be given priority to improve people’s life quality in Central Russia through digital transformation.
Digital platforms in healthcare and education, electronic systems in the housing and utility sector, in transport, smart solutions in the urban economy help create a new comfortable living environment. The application of digital platforms by producers, especially in the segment of small and medium-sized businesses, leads to a revival in business activity, generates demand, provides access to sales markets, creates new jobs. This is of special importance given today’s uneven economic development of regions and individual territories. The value of such systems for small towns, settlements and villages can hardly be overestimated: digital networks unite them into a single economic space ensuring employment and decent living standards. The Forum should set such objectives and propose concrete steps for achieving them.
The Forum is expected to be attended by more than 2,000 people: representatives of federal ministries and departments, regional authorities of Central Russia, state-run corporations, major research and educational institutions, consultancies, industrial and agricultural companies, investment and banking players, small and medium-sized businesses.
The CEF 2019 Forum program includes plenary events, 14 thematic sessions, an exhibition of advanced digital technology projects, and a competition for young programmers.
The Forum is organized by the Government of Kursk region, the Investment Attraction Agency of Kursk region, AK&M Information Agency.
