Kursk region's economy to focus on import substitution
On December 17, 2014, Kursk region governor Alexander Mikhailov visited OJSC Geomash, surveyed the production process, discussed import substitution plans, 2015 prospects with the management team and held a meeting with the company employees, according to a statement made by the information support management of Kursk region's Information and Press Committee.
Addressing the employees, the governor noted that the regional government's priorities in terms of industrial policy included a number of projects to expand and update the range of products in the petrochemical, power, mechanical engineering industries, traditionally strong economy sectors for Kursk region.
Among other things, it is of critical importance that the federal government takes measures to support the Russian enterprises engaged in or mastering the manufacture of import substituting products, the Governor said.
The regional government has sent proposals on ways to best use Kursk region's industrial capacities to Dmitry Rogozin, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government, Vladimir Vasiliev (Vice Speaker of the Russian State Duma, head of the United Russia parliamentary group) and 8 major state corporations.
