Kursk region one of the ten socially safest regions of Russia
Kursk region is one of the 10 safest Russian regions, according to the data recently published by the Federal State Statistics Service following a research study aimed to clear the financial standing of Russian citizens in different regions.
According to the Trud newspaper, the number of people below the poverty line (the minimum subsistence level) was twice the average Russian level in 18 regions: Krasnoyarsk Krai, Zabaykalsky Krai, Kamchatka Krai, Altai Krai, Tomsk, Irkutsk regions, republic os Buryatia, Khakassia, Mordovia, Yakutia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Ingushetia, Karachay-Cherkessia, Mari El, Altai, Jewish autonomous area, Kalmykia, Tyva.
In 16 federal subjects of Russia, 16.9% to 21.8% of the people have incomes below the regional subsistence minimums, against the average percentage of 11.2% in 2014.
According to the Federal State Statistics Service, the lowest percentage of people below the poverty line (7-8.9%) is in the Republic of Tatarstan, Belgorod, Lipetsk, Sverdlovsk, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Kursk regions, St. Petersburg, Yamalo-Nenets autonomous area and Chukotka autonomous area. Moscow shares the 11-13th positions with Voronezh region and Nenets autonomous area (9%).
