Kursk region’s delegation visits Serbia

Delegates from Kursk region took part in the third Expo-Russia Serbia 2016 international exhibition and the Belgrade Business Forum.

According to Svetlana Dorosh, Vice President of the External Relations Development Committee of Kursk region’s Government, the main purpose of the exhibition is to further expand communications between Russia and Serbia including inter-regional contacts. The delegation of our region took part in thematic round tables, presentations of Russian and Serbian companies, meetings with representatives of ministries and departments, held negotiations with representatives of Serbian businesses and organizations, research and higher education institutions.

Speaking at the plenary meeting “Value and Prospects of Expanding Inter-regional Cooperation between Russia and the Republic of Serbia”, Svetlana Dorosh presented a report on cooperation pursuant to the current memorandum. The Federal Agency for the CIS, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation’s (Rossotrudnichestvo) representative office in Serbia also hosted a presentation of the economic and investment potential of Kursk region.

During its visit to Serbia, the Kursk region’s delegation reached agreements on expanding bilateral cooperation. In particular, the signing of an agreement with Serbia’s Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, the signing of an agreement between Kursk State Agricultural Academy and the Agricultural Institute of Serbia as well as with the vegetable and plant growing department of the University of Belgrade are in the works and can be signed as early as during the Kursk Korenskaya Fair 2016.

Serbia and Kursk region will continue cooperation in research, education, and culture. One of the most interesting projects addressing the study and promotion of Russian language, including the engineering and technology sector is currently being developed by the academic community of Kursk State University, Southwest State University and higher education institutions of Serbia, with the assistance of the ‘Russian House’ (Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Belgrade).
