Meeting of the Council of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Central Federal District
On April 27, 2016, the Council of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Central Federal District held a videoconferencing meeting “Health of students: experience, problems, prospects, promotion of a healthy lifestyle among students”.
The meeting addressed health condition of students in the federal subjects of Russia’s Central Federal district, creation of a model of healthy lifestyle formation and prevention of non-contagious diseases among students, results of the federal state sanitary and epidemiological supervision over the education and upbringing of children. Besides, the meeting focused on priorities of the regional policy of students’ healthy lifestyle formation and the role of teachers in the formation of students’ healthy lifestyle.
The leadership of the country pays special attention to the health condition of students, Alexander Beglov, the Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Central Federal District, stated opening the meeting. He recalled that Russia had lately implemented a number of major federal projects and programs (such as the school meal program), built a lot of sports and recreation complexes and other mass sports facilities. Russia hosts national mass fitness and health recreation events and builds a universal barrier-free environment at educational institutions.
“However, the current statistics spark concerns: the number of diseases affecting children aged 3 to 17 increases by 4-5% every year. Public health is sensitive, among other things, to living conditions and the lifestyle, which means that it can be influenced positively or negatively. With this in mind, awareness raising efforts as regards preservation and strengthening of health become of key importance," Alexander Beglov said highlighting the relevance of the problem.
Besides, Alexander Nikitin (head of the government of Tambov region), Sergey Sitnikov (Governor of Kostroma region), Alexander Baranov (head of the Scientific Center of Children's Health, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation), Irina Bragina (deputy head, Federal Service on Customers' Rights Protection and Human Well-being Surveillance / Rospotrebnadzor), Tatyana Yakovleva (Deputy Minister of Health), Lyudmila Ogorodova (Deputy Minister of Education and Science), representatives of educational institutions presented reports at the meeting.
