External turnover of Kursk region and Donetsk region increased 9.5-fold to $135 million over 2007-2011

External turnover of Kursk region and Donetsk region (Ukraine) increased 9.5-fold to $135 million in 2007-2011, said Gennady Plokhikh, Chairman of the External Relations Development Committee of Kursk region’s Government, during the recent joint session of working groups.

The leading exporters of Kursk region to Donetsk region are: Kurskrezinotekhnika (English: Kursk Rubber Goods Plant), KONTI-RUS, Rudoavtomatika, Geomash and Kursk Accumulator Plant.

The cooperation of the two regions goes beyond purely trade and economic matters. Kursk region and Donetsk region are successfully developing their inter-academic, scientific, cultural relations and interacting in the youth policy sphere. Special attention is paid to exhibition and fair-related events and activities, assistance is offered to compatriots living abroad. Twin-city relations of Kursk and Donetsk regions are expanding.

During the meeting, officials of Kursk region’s government presented the economic and investment potential of Kursk region and the regional target program of assistance to compatriots living abroad for 2011-2013 to their Ukrainian colleagues.

During the joint session of the working groups of Kursk and Donetsk regions, the parties formulated priorities for their further cooperation: expanding the range of exports and imports, increasing the information and publicity efforts, cooperation of the chambers of commerce and industry as well as SME businesses.
