Commodity turnover between Kursk region and Moscow rose 3 times
04/05/2012
Commodity turnover between Kursk region and Moscow has increased three times in recent years. This was stated by Sergey Sobyanin, the Mayor of Moscow, at a meeting with Kursk region’s Governor Alexander Mikhailov, according to a statement made by the information support management of Kursk region’s Information and Press Committee.
Kursk region is delivering high-quality foodstuffs, medicines and construction materials to Moscow, Sobyanin said. Besides, the region is widely involved in Moscow's government orders. Over the past 12 months, Kursk enterprises were awarded public contracts for over 400 million rubles.
The inter-regional cooperation stimulates the production output at Kursk enterprises, helps expand their product ranges and increases the Kursk producers’ market share in the Russian capital’s food market, A. Mikhailov pointed out.
In 2011, the agricultural enterprises of Kursk region delivered goods for 480 million rubles to Moscow, the food and processing sector shipped goods for 2.8 billion rubles, the regional industrial enterprises earned 22 billion rubles. At the same time, Moscow shipped goods for 16.3 billion rubles. Total area of residential projects commissioned across the region involving Moscow investment companies increased by 3% to 393 thousand square meters.
Also, the regions cooperated actively in culture, healthcare, education and sports projects.
The direct partnership capacities have not nearly been exhausted, A. Mikhailov believes. For example, the agriculture of Kursk region may play a greater role in meeting Moscow’s demand for high-quality, safe and clean products. Moscow’s businesses may put their capacities to work in most diverse projects (plant growing, animal farming, food processing).
“We will be happy to see new up-to-date processing enterprises be constructed in parallel with the development of the raw-material base,” said A. Mikhailov. “The regional demand for them is high. Also, Kursk region is ready to offer Moscow investors vacant land plots for the construction of new industrial facilities".
During the meeting, the parties signed a declaration of joint efforts for 2012-2014 in pursuance of the economic, scientific/technical and cultural cooperation agreement between the governments of Moscow and Kursk region.
Pursuant to this declaration, the parties arranged for their teamwork to develop the trade and economic relations, investment policy, SME businesses, science and industry, education, culture, healthcare, travelling and sports, land-use planning and city development, the principal aspects of the national youth and family policy, IT and cooperation ties.
S. Sobyanin voiced hope that the declaration would add momentum to the inter-regional cooperation.
The Governor of Kursk region invited the Mayor of Moscow and the Moscow delegation to Kursk Korenskaya Fair and the Mid-Russian Economic Forum scheduled for June 15-16.
